This Week's Top Races
The highlight of the three-race graded-stakes card at Woodbine Park in Toronto, Canada, is the $1M Pattison Canadian International Stakes (G1), taking place on Sunday, October 19. The International is a 1 ½ mile turf race for three-year-olds and up and will mark the North American debut of Brown Panther, who was the impressive winner of the Curragh in the Irish St Leger (Grp 1) on September 14. He has a record of 24-10-4-3. Also slated to start is multiple graded-stakes winner Big Blue Kitten; the six-year-old will be looking to rebound from a fourth-place performance in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1) at Belmont on September 27. Another European invader to keep an eye on is four-year-old Hillstar. He won the Arc Trial Legacy Cup (Grp 3) at Newbury on September 20 last outing.
Also on the card is the $500,000 EP Taylor Stakes (G1) for three-year old and up fillies and mares. They'll run 1 ¼ miles. The $300,000 Nearctic Stakes (G2) are for sprinters, also three-years-old and up.
